Abila Sponsors “Donor-Centered Leadership” Book Tour

Author Penelope Burk kicks off the multi-city tour on Nov. 20 in Chicago

AUSTIN, TEXAS – November 19, 2013Abila, a provider of software solutions dedicated to serving dynamic nonprofit organizations, associations and government agencies, is partnering with local Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) chapters in Chicago, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Austin, Tex., to sponsor author Penelope Burk’s Donor-Centered Leadership book tour. The latest book by Burk tackles one of the most frustrating and costly challenges faced by nonprofits and associations today – the high turnover rate of staff and the financial toll involved.

Working closely with Cygnus Applied Research, Inc., a research-based fundraising consulting firm servicing the charitable sector, Abila and AFP are bringing renowned author Penelope Burk to share the results of her latest research conducted with over 12,000 development professionals, CEOs, Board members and donors.

Donor-Centered Leadership offers winning strategies to slow the early exodus of nonprofits and associations’ development staff. Burk presents a strong case based on her extensive research, to focus board members’ attention on their core duty to unleash their philanthropic efforts on a whole new level.

“We’re so thrilled to be able to share Penelope Burk’s expertise and research with these AFP chapters,” said Krista Endsley, CEO, Abila. “Our partnership with Cygnus Applied Research, Inc. has opened up an opportunity to showcase well-respected research and best practices for retaining and attracting the best and brightest staff and board members possible. We are dedicated to educating the not-for-profit community on the trends and tools they need to succeed. This high-level series with Penelope is a great resource for all fundraising leaders.”

The tour officially kicks off on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 with AFP Chicago, and picks up again on January 23, 2014 in New York City, and in Washington, D.C. on April 24, 2014. Austin, Tex. will also host a visit in April 2014 on a date to be confirmed.

Registration for the event varies by AFP chapter and is based on membership. For more information, please visit:http://www.cygresearch.com/booktour2013-2014.php.
